Staff Experience Results

Jan 16, 2024

We're pretty proud of our latest staff experience survey results.  We love hearing about what is working, where we're improving and what can be done to make Nucleus the employer of choice. Check it out!

Nucleus has been routinely collecting staff experience information through short “pulse” surveys. The responses from these surveys are thoroughly reviewed by management and incorporated into quality improvement work.

Here are some of the top highlights from Fall 2023:

  • 96.5% of staff “feel a sense of meaning/purpose in their roles at Nucleus
  • 84% ‘strongly agree’ or ‘agree’ they feel well informed about what is happening at Nucleus
  • On a scale from 1-10 how likely are staff to recommend Nucleus’ services to friends/family, the response was 8.2/10 which is an increase from 6/10 in the December 2022 results.
  • 87.7% ‘strongly agree’ or ‘agree’ they feel comfortable giving opinions and feedback to their manager
  • 85.7% would recommend Nucleus as a great place to work
  • 100% ‘strongly agree’ or ‘agree’ their role gives them a sense of meaning and purpose
  • 100% ‘strongly agree’ or ‘agree’ we are committed to serving our clients
  • When asked to select three words to describe Nucleus, the three most common were: happy, diverse, innovative, supportive, comfortable

What our staff want  - What we are doing about it

More training! Many staff identified ‘training opportunities’ as something they are seeking more of. This is why a training survey was sent to all staff to ensure training plans are created based on what our staff skills and knowledge our staff want to focus on.

Food & Refreshments! Staff would like food and refreshments to be provided at meetings and training. Where possible, we aim to do this, however this is not something we are always able to budget.

Meet & Greets! Now that COVID is less of a risk, we are transitioning staff town halls, team meetings and introducing 1:1 sessions between staff and people managers, including Attendants and their Care Team Leads.

Working Close to Home! We know many staff would like our scheduling efforts to include their travel time to home into consideration. Through the University of Ottawa scheduling work, this is an input we are exploring, however our priority remains our funded commitment obligations, which are to delivering care to the clients we serve across our region.

IT Issues! We encourage everyone, every time, to report any and all IT issues to our IT Help Desk so that we can address, investigate and identify trends; and more importantly resolve and prevent these issues.
